My Story
My early experiences with exercise were marked by feelings of shame and physical discomfort. I was inactive and overweight, coming last in cross-country at school every year and was warned by my family doctor about potential health risks from being inactive - diabetes.
My perspective on exercise gradually shifted when my parents introduced me to gym training, initially involving tedious cardio workouts. Although I did not initially enjoy these, a turning point came when I decided to take control and began walking and eventually running regularly. I found enjoyment in these activities by initially taking things at my own pace and gradually increasing my session efforts. This was my first experience in periodised training programming and I did not even realise it!
In high school, I further diversified my exercise regimen by incorporating weightlifting and attending Les Mills classes. My enjoyment of resistance training and group fitness classes, helped me form a positive relationship with exercise beyond just controlling my appearance. Training quickly became the favourite part of my day, everyday. This newfound passion, plus my love for helping people, led me to become a certified Personal Trainer and Les Mills Group Fitness Instructor.
My biggest learning throughout my journey was the importance of enjoying the exercise you do and how it contributes to physical, mental and emotional well-being. I would love to help educate and empower people to foster a positive relationship with exercise to help improve their overall quality of life - as it has done for me.
